Lightning struck near my car and now it won't start. Any ideas?

-Lightning hit the ground near my car but a large branch also fell on the hood. Now the car won't start. It turns over but does not catch. It also puts out a lot of gas fumes from under the hood when you try to start it. What could be wrong?I would give it to a mechanic or buy a new car
