-The car started acting up before she got out of town. She took it back and they kept it a week. She is a widow and doesn't have a lot of money. She put all she had down on the car. When she got it back she kept it three or four days and had to take it back to the shop. This has happen four other times. He refuses to give her another car or her money back. Now the car is tore up again. Is it illegal to write an editorial to the newspaper about these people. What advise do you give this lady?Editorial is opinion and free speech. It is not illegal as long as what she is saying is true.
If she starts making things up that didn't happen with the intent to defame the dealership, then she could be in trouble for libel.
I hope she learned her lesson to have a mechanic inspect any used vehicle she intends to purchase prior to signing anything.
advice for the lady? Have your next vehicle inspected before you buy it. Unfortunately, it's not against the law to sell someone a piece of junk. It's up to the buyer to know the difference between a good used car and a junker.
she needs to consult a solicitor and trading standards office. if the car was not fit for purpose she is entitled to a full refund.
