-I asked a question about the 2004 Chevy Aveo. I got mostly good/informative feedback so I decided to call the dealership and unfortunately the car has been sold.
I see a lot of Ford Tauruses for sale and wonder well they keep. I took my driving lessons/test in a Ford Taurus and I really liked the space and how it handled.
PLEASE, only people who have experience/history with this car. If you feel so inclined to leave a generic comment about a foreign car, save it.I've recently purchased a Ford Taurus and it now has 260k miles on it and running strong. I'd say it'll make it to 300k easy. They're decent cars and good for your buck. You just have to, like every car keep up with the maintenance, oil changes, spark plugs, air filters, etc. and there will occasionally be little things that go wrong like in every car whether it be the alternator going bad or the battery needing replaced. But that's easy stuff that if you find a man who has a little mechanical experience can save you hundreds of dollars changing them. Like me :). Depending on what year it is, look it up and the mileage on KBB.com and that'll tell you whether it's overpriced or you can talk the dealers down. They usually will go down at least 500 from what they say if it's a used car lot.Generally an ok vehicle for the money.
Insurance is on the lower end, good space, cheap to fix/maintain. Good basic transportation.
Performance, reliability and economy are middle of the pack for it's class, but it doesn't sound like these are your top priorities.
I would recommend it way more over an Aveo.
Like any used vehicle, get it inspected. Any car is only as good as it has been maintained...especially true if it is over 5 years old.
CAN I JUST START BY SAYING; (KAY) YOUR CAR WOULD ONLY BREAK DOWN FROM LACK OF MAINTENANCE..
120K MILES IS NOTHING ON A CAR OF THAT SIZE.
SERVICE ANNUALLY AND KEEP DRIVING
It's a pretty decent car. I had a Taurus for five years. I got to about 120k before it started to break down on me. Not a bad car.
They tend to have transmission problems sooner than they should.
